Water water everywhere but not a decent drop to drink. It seems unthinkable that the water that comes out of our taps is full of heavy metals and added chemicals. I know we're lucky to live in a country that has enough water but what we need is clean, chemical free water.
We used to call bread the staff of life, but move over bread, water is the staff of life! We can't go even a few days without it.
Water makes up 60% of our body weight and 90% of our brain weight. We need it to carry oxygen and nutrients to our cells. It boosts energy, hydrates the skin, flushes out toxins and helps our digestion. Without it we die.
If you don't already try drinking 2 litres or 8 glasses of filtered water daily and feel the difference.
So many people are severely dehydrated and many illnesses are confused with dehydrations. Dementia in the elderly for instance can arise from several issues, low vitamin B, grief, depression, fatigue, medications and dehydration. We need water for brain function and for proper operation of the kidneys and bowels. Constipation is caused by lack of water.
In a nut shell if left untreated dehydration is fatal.
So what's the answer to our chemical laden tap water?
A decent water filter!
Which means a filter that not just takes out 99% of bacteria and protozoa, it removes inorganic minerals, heavy metals (including arsenic, lead, mercury, chromium), pharmaceutical drugs (including caffeine, Acetaminophen, Ibuprofen, Progesterone, Triclosan), pesticides, VOCs, petroleum products (including gasoline, diesel, crude oil, kerosene, mineral spirits, refined oil), perfluorinated chemicals, rust, silt, sediment, and even radiologicals.
I have a Big Berkey which has four filters, two carbon and two fluoride ones, but I also have a ZERO filter for travelling. Last year we took our zero to Africa. It was so useful as it told us just how contaminated the water was.
