Chia Seed Berry Bowl & DIY Oat Milk

I can't believe I ever bought cereal in a box for breakfast! I discovered chia seeds a few years ago and wasn't sure what all the fuss was about until I tried a chia seed bowl. The best thing about chia seed bowls is that you can pop in the fridge the night before and the next morning simply add your favourite toppings for the speediest breakfast ever!

The trick is to put about two tablespoons of chia into a glass, cover with dairy free oat milk, stir the seeds so they are covered completely then fill the glass half full with more milk. Then pop them in the fridge. When you are ready to use them add more milk and stir so they separate. Add your favourite berries and a tablespoon of ground mixed seeds.

To make your own oat milk:

  • 2 tbsp organic oats (use GF oats to make this a completely gluten & dairy free breakfast)
  • Pint of filtered water
  • Pinch of salt
  • Squeeze of agave syrup

Place the oats in a blender with a pint of water. Add a pinch of salt and a squeeze of agave syrup. Whizz up for a couple of seconds. Blending too long makes the milk gluey so whizz sparingly!

Strain the milk in a sieve a few times discarding the oats.

Place in a bottle in the fridge. Use within 2 days.
