Bircher muesli is one of those breakfasts that feels like a treat but takes about two minutes to prepare. You do the work the night before, and the next morning it's waiting for you in the fridge — thick, creamy, and ready to top with whatever fruit you fancy. It's become a staple in my house, especially in summer.
The beauty of bircher is how endlessly adaptable it is. Add nuts, berries, raisins, seeds, a pinch of cinnamon — whatever you have. The base stays the same; the toppings change with the seasons.
Ingredients
- 100g organic oats
- 1 cup of organic oat milk or any nut milk
- ¼ cup of mixed pumpkin and sunflower seeds
- Cinnamon (optional)
- Your favourite fresh or frozen fruit to serve
Instructions
- Place the oats and seeds in a bowl and stir to combine.
- Pour over the milk and stir well.
- Cover and place in the fridge overnight.
- In the morning, give it a stir — it should be thick and creamy. Add a splash more milk if you prefer a looser consistency.
- Top with your favourite fruit and a sprinkle of cinnamon if you like.
You can mix in any nuts, berries, seeds, raisins, or spices you like. Enjoy!
