CBD is derived from the hemp plant. CBD stands for cannabidiol. To clarify straight away CBD is a non-psychoactive compound, unlike cannabis which contains THC. In other words it will not get you high.
CBD is extracted from hemp flowers. The flowers from the hemp plant are known to produce over 100 cannabinoid compounds. It is these oils that are well known for their beneficial effects. Research is on going as more therapeutic qualities are being discovered.
CBD is perfectly legal and safe to use, has no known side effects and is not addictive. However, check with your doctor if you are on statins or any blood pressure medication.
HOW DOES CBD WORK?
CBD interacts with receptors in your brain and body. These receptors form what we now call the endocannabinoid system also known as the ECS. This system was only discovered in 1992, but it is proving to be one of the most crucial bodily systems. The primary role of the ECS is to help maintain homoeostasis (balance) regulating our mood, appetite, digestion, memory, hormones, sensitivity to pain and sleep. CBD also works as an anti-inflammatory, soothing both nerves and muscles.
WHAT CAN CBD HELP WITH?
WHAT DOSE SHOULD I TAKE?
CBD oil comes in several strengths from 500mg-2000mg
I advise people to start with a low strength and work upwards until they find the right dose. Everyone is different. If you find yourself needing 10 drops go to a higher strength.
HOW DO I TAKE CBD OIL?
Place a couple of drops of oil under your tongue or add to a warm milky drink. Try oat milk as the fats help the body to absorb it faster.
